Installing the Agent

Download, install, and launch the CloudMove desktop agent.

Installing the Agent

The CloudMove agent runs on a machine inside your client's network and handles the actual file reads and uploads. You need it installed before you can run a scan or migration.

Where to install it

Install the agent on a machine that:

  • Can read the source file share (mapped drive or UNC path)
  • Has outbound internet access
  • Stays powered on during the migration

A server works fine. A workstation with access works too. The agent doesn't need to be the file server itself.

Download

Download links live in your dashboard under any project's Setup step.

Pick the installer for your platform:

  • Windows.msi (Windows 10/11, 64-bit)
  • macOS.dmg (macOS 12 or later, Intel and Apple Silicon)

Install

Windows

  1. Run the downloaded .msi file.
  2. Click through the installer prompts.
  3. The agent appears in your Start menu as CloudMove Agent.

Windows may warn about an unknown publisher — click More infoRun anyway. We're working on code-signing to remove this warning.

macOS

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg.
  2. Drag CloudMove Agent to your Applications folder.
  3. First launch: right-click the app → OpenOpen again. macOS blocks unsigned apps by default; right-click bypasses that.

Launch

Open the agent. You'll see the activation screen asking for a token.

You don't have a token yet — you'll generate one from the dashboard in the next step.

Next steps

Now that the agent is installed, let's run your first migration.
