Creating a Client

Add a customer to your MSP and understand the client/project hierarchy.

Creating a Client

A client is one of your customers. Every project in CloudMove belongs to a client, and every client connects to its own Microsoft 365 tenant.

Hierarchy

Your MSP
├── Acme Corp (client)
│ ├── File Server A → SharePoint (project)
│ └── Home Folders → OneDrive (project)
└── Globex (client)
    └── Archive Migration (project)

One client = one M365 tenant. If a customer has multiple tenants you want to migrate to, create one CloudMove client per tenant.

Create a client

From the dashboard, go to ClientsNew Client.

Enter a name (whatever helps you recognize them — the customer's company name usually works) and save.

What's next

After creating the client, the detail page opens with three things to do:

  1. Connect Microsoft 365 — see Connecting Microsoft 365
  2. Create a project — see Creating a Project
  3. Manage the client — edit or delete, covered in Managing Clients

The M365 connection needs to be in place before you can run a migration, but you can create projects first if you'd rather come back to the admin consent step later.
